By doing this, Changmu turns "gutter oil" into treasure

    2024-08-02

Can dirty gutter oil turn waste into treasure? In Ningbo, Zhejiang, "gutter oil" has made a beautiful turn. Recently, the Hainan Airlines 787 passenger plane with flight number HU497 took off from Beijing and flew across the Pacific Ocean to Chicago, USA using bio aviation coal made from recycled "gutter oil". Not only that, a college student entrepreneurship enterprise in Ningbo has also transformed "gutter oil" into environmentally friendly water-based paint.

The report of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China proposed to promote green development, strengthen the energy conservation and environmental protection industry, clean production industry, and clean energy industry, promote the energy production and consumption revolution, and build a clean, low-carbon, safe, and efficient energy system.

Zhenhai Refining and Chemical is a benchmark enterprise under Sinopec and the largest integrated refining and chemical enterprise in China. Currently, it has a refining capacity of 23 million tons per year and an ethylene production capacity of 1 million tons per year.

Zhenhai Refining and Chemical focuses on starting from the source, choosing advanced design concepts, clean production processes, and comprehensive utilization technologies to organize the production process. It has built an internal circular economy model based on the basic framework of "high utilization internal industrial chain" and "zero waste discharge", and has embarked on a development path of "low cost, good benefits, low emissions, and sustainability".

It is reported that the bio aviation kerosene used for cross ocean commercial passenger flights is produced by Zhenhai Refining and Chemical Company, a subsidiary of Sinopec. It is made from waste cooking oil and blended with conventional aviation kerosene at a ratio of 15:85.

The bio aviation kerosene raw material oil uses waste cooking oil and non edible animal and vegetable fats, and is a renewable and environmentally friendly fuel. In September 2011, the Zhenhai Refining and Chemical Hangzhou Petrochemical Production Base under Sinopec was renovated and built with a set of industrial equipment and blending facilities for bio aviation kerosene, becoming the first industrial production equipment for bio aviation kerosene in Asia. In December 2011, the equipment produced qualified bio aviation kerosene for the first time. On April 24, 2013, Sinopec's No.1 bio aviation fuel successfully completed its technical test flight at Shanghai Hongqiao Airport by China Eastern Airlines, making China the fourth country after the United States, France, and Finland to have independently developed and produced bio aviation fuel technology. On March 21, 2015, the first commercial flight of Sinopec No.1 bio aviation coal from Shanghai to Beijing was successfully carried out by Hainan Airlines.

According to experts, compared to traditional petroleum based aviation kerosene, carbon emissions can be reduced by more than 50% throughout the entire lifecycle.

Huang Aibin, Senior Engineer of the Bio Aviation Coal Project at Sinopec Zhenhai Refining and Chemical Company, stated that aviation biofuels mainly extract plant fats from restaurant waste oil, which contain hydrocarbons. Daily applications such as gasoline, diesel, and aviation coal are all composed of hydrocarbons.

According to Huang Aibin, the processing of bio aviation coal is produced using waste cooking oil as raw material, mainly divided into four steps: first, pre-treatment of leftover cooking oil; The raw material obtained in the first step is subjected to hydrogenation and upgrading at a certain temperature and pressure to convert it into refined oil; The third step is heterogeneous pour point reduction to prevent the aircraft from solidifying aviation kerosene when the temperature is very low during flight. Finally, separation. Ultimately, various products including aviation kerosene were obtained.

Chen Yanbin, Deputy General Manager of Sinopec Zhenhai Refining and Chemical Branch, stated that Zhenhai Refining and Chemical strictly manages to ensure that the quality of the production, blending, and delivery of bio aviation coal is fully controlled throughout the entire process. According to the sampling analysis of China Aviation Fuel, all indicators of bio aviation coal fully meet the quality standard requirements.

The 13th Five Year Plan for Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction in Civil Aviation issued by the Civil Aviation Administration of China proposes that by 2020, the energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions per unit of transportation turnover in the industry will decrease by more than 4% compared to the 12th Five Year Plan, and the energy consumption per unit of passenger throughput in the industry's transportation airports will decrease by more than 15% compared to the end of the 12th Five Year Plan.

Sinopec No.1 bio aviation coal is the first cross ocean application of bio aviation coal product approved by the Civil Aviation Administration of China for airworthiness. The successful flight marks another major breakthrough in the research, development, production, and commercial application of bio aviation coal in China, "said the relevant person in charge of the Civil Aviation Administration of China.

It is reported that the Civil Aviation Administration of China has issued the "13th Five Year Plan for Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction in Civil Aviation", which proposes that by 2020, the energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions per unit of transportation turnover in the industry will decrease by more than 4% compared to the "12th Five Year Plan", and the energy consumption per unit of passenger throughput in the industry's transportation airports will decrease by more than 15% compared to the end of the "12th Five Year Plan".

In Ningbo, a high-tech entrepreneurial team composed of college students successfully developed gutter oil into environmentally friendly water-based resin paint, and goldfish can swim around in the water-based paint on the ground.

Yu Guo is the Chairman of Changmu (Ningbo) New Material Technology Co., Ltd. and a member of the National Water based Industrial Paint Coating Committee. This enterprise, which settled in Ningbo National High tech Zone last year, is engaged in the development of high-performance air drying self crosslinking water-based resins.

So, how can gutter oil be transformed into environmentally friendly coatings?

Yu Guo explained to reporters that due to the complex composition of gutter oil and the presence of impurities that are not conducive to reaction, it must undergo refining and purification processes to remove impurities and obtain refined gutter oil. Ditch oil can turn waste into treasure and become one of the raw materials for making water-based paint, which is very meaningful for environmental protection! "Said Yu Guo.

How to solve the problem of raw material sources? Yu Guo found Lin Bin. Lin Bin is the developer of a comprehensive on-site garbage digestion system. His high-tech entrepreneurial team is located in Zhenhai, Ningbo and has been dedicated to the research and control of household garbage classification and collection systems. Ditch oil recycling is a business of Lin Bin. On average, the company can collect 30 tons of kitchen waste from Zhenhai every day. After separating the gutter oil, coloring agents and special flavors are added. Lin Bin said that the separated gutter oil is blood colored and has a bitter taste. This strong visual and gustatory change can no longer be transformed into edible oil. Moreover, he requested from Yu Guo that after using water-based paint made from gutter oil for home decoration, it would not be a problem for children to accidentally lick furniture and walls.

When Lin Bin saw the goldfish swimming freely in the water-based paint, he felt relieved.
